Kiara College is seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Science Teacher with excellent interpersonal skills.
The successful applicant should ideally display a commitment to delivering high quality, engaging learning experiences which highlight their deep knowledge of the Year 7 to 12 Science curriculum. They should also ideally exhibit an outstanding application of best practice assessment and reporting practices which include a high level of data analysis skills to monitor the progress of students and classes and adjust learning strategies as required.
It would be highly desirable for applicants to have experience in planning and delivering programs for a diverse student population including academically motivated students and students with special needs, as well as experience in engaging students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) opportunities. The expected teaching load could include both Science and Mathematics curriculum areas.
Applicants with experience and skill in teaching students from a EALD backgrounds, expertise in Classroom Management Strategies (CMS) and Explicit Direct Instruction (EDI) are encouraged to apply
The successful applicant will ideally be a passionate educator committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. They will ideally have exceptional organisational skills as well as the ability to work effectively as part of an energetic, creative and experienced team. Applicants possessing strong communication and leadership skills to support the College’s mission statement, values, and priorities across the community and the ability to work effectively within a team, displaying the capacity to improve upon performance through reflective practice will be highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
