Allendale Primary School (PS) is seeking two (2) high performing instructional leaders with strong moral purpose, to join our friendly team in the role of Deputy Principal.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 2 x permanent full-time positions
All positions will commence Term 1, 2022.
The successful applicants will ideally demonstrate professional integrity at all times and be committed to supporting staff to implement ‘the Allendale way’ of teaching English and Mathematics.
Lowering the cognitive load of our students and promoting the conditions for long term information retention are clear and ongoing focuses of our school and its leadership team. Supporting Teachers to implement evidence based whole school programs in the core curriculum areas (Spelling Mastery in 2022) are of key importance in the Deputy Principal roles.
The successful applicant will ideally have experience in leading whole school pedagogical change, understand the science of learning and be committed to the delivery of the Allendale PS 2021 – 2023 Business Plan. Allendale Deputies should hold a strong desire to work closely with Teachers through classroom observations, feedback sessions and structured learning sprints. You should also have a strong working knowledge of student services protocols, working collaboratively to meet the social needs of our almost 400 students, a third of which are Aboriginal.

Members of the leadership team will regularly make difficult decisions and have fierce conversations, always with positive student outcomes placed at the forefront. We are a proud Independent Public School catering for Kindergarten to Year 6 students and our staff share a collective responsibility for providing every student with a pathway to a successful future. Our school is situated in the centre of Geraldton and our families live within Wonthella and surrounding suburbs.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
