About the Role
Australind SHS is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and innovative English Teacher who is passionate about creating highly engaging and rigorous learning environments.

The successful applicant will self-reflect and assess the effectiveness of their teaching practice, promote an environment of active and positive learning, and provide educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their highest potential. You will be able to show differentiated teaching practices within the classroom and skills and strategies that support the development of sound literacy practice within the classroom. This will include the capacity to deliver highly engaging programs. With effective interpersonal skills, you will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Our English department is well resourced, collaborative and we are looking for innovative and passionate teachers to join our team.

About us
Australind SHS is the largest Independent Public School in the South West region of Western Australia. It is located 1.5 hrs from Perth and is also close to the tourist destinations of Busselton and Margaret River, offering a balanced lifestyle.
The school has a student population of 1400 students which creates many opportunities for students. We are committed to continuous improvement in teaching and learning through reflective practice with a focus on Quality Teaching and Learning, as detailed in our business plan. Our recent excellent Public School Review demonstrates the success of our teachers and students. Our English programs begin with a literacy based integrated English and HASS program, through to the suite of Year 11/12 Foundations, General English, and our highly successful English Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and Literature ATAR courses.
We also run a very successful Maths and Philosophy (MAPS) academic program. This program is Education Department approved and engages our academically gifted students from Years 7-10. The MAPS program supports and sets up students for success in Years 11 and 12. Our ATAR results are regularly above like schools and has seen us ranked in the top 50 schools on numerous occasions.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
