Governor Stirling Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of Visual Arts Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2023.
Suitable applicants should be highly motivated, student-focused and able to provide engaging, relevant and meaningful Arts learning experiences. Visual Arts is a highly valued learning area in our school, encompassing a specialist Arts Media course. We encourage the use of innovative and creative teaching strategies, incorporating the ability to differentiate the curriculum according to student needs.
Governor Stirling SHS is seeking applicants with the aptitude to reflect on the effectiveness of their teaching, and who work in a collaborative way with other staff to improve their practice through observation, performance management, and Professional Learning Communities. We are a Positive Behaviour Support school, and the suitable applicants will ideally have strong teaching and classroom management skills, and should develop good relationships with students and engage them in highly effective learning.
It is highly desirable that suitable applicants have experience teaching ATAR Visual Arts, and are familiar with a range of different art forms including both traditional and digital media. The Arts staff are innovative and collaborative in their quest for providing creative opportunities for our students, and the ability to work effectively in a team will be advantageous.
Situated on the banks of the Swan River in Woodbridge, Governor Stirling SHS was re-opened in 2013 with state-of-the-art facilities, offering the Department of Education Gifted and Talented Academic Program, a range of academic and Vocational Education Training (VET) programs and Approved Specialist Programs in Engineering, Arts Media and AFL Football. Governor Stirling SHS prepares students for life after high school with many options for academic and vocational pathways.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
