Appointment Pool
The English team at Broome Senior High School (SHS) would like to invite you to join our innovative team.
Broome SHS is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and enthusiastic English and/or English as an Additional Language or Dialect (EALD) teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.

About the role
English teachers with knowledge, experience and/or training to teach up to Years 11 to 12 ATAR English and/or those with capacity and background to teach EALD students in Foundation or General classes are urged to apply.
The suitable applicants will ideally be student and relationship focused, enthusiastic, innovative and motivated, with the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment. They will be strong communicators with excellent interpersonal skills.
The suitable applicants will ideally engage in ongoing self-reflection and assess the effectiveness of teaching practice. They will embrace the integration of Information and Communications Technology to create an environment conducive to learning as well as provide purposeful and relevant learning experiences that cater for different student learning needs.
Furthermore, the applicants will embrace cross cultural relationships and work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff at the school to enhance outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students (approximately 40% of the school population).
The following qualities are considered desirable: a high degree of knowledge and/or recent experience teaching Years 7 to 10 WA Curriculum (English) and/or Year 11 to 12 EALD or English courses; understanding of Two Way Teaching and Learning; and experience in working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Familiarity with the EALD Progress Maps; Trauma Informed Practice and Positive Behaviour Support would also be an advantage.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
