This is a unique opportunity to support the implementation and establishment of IT networks in various Alternative Learning Settings across Western Australia (WA)
The Alternative Learning Settings (ALS) are seeking a skilled Network Support Officer to provide IT support with the implementation and establishment of IT networks across new ALS Centres in the metropolitan region as well as across regional WA. These are unique programs, geographically dispersed through the WA education regions. The network set-up and ongoing support will be vital to the successful delivery of the program.
Alternative Leaning Settings staff benefit from working in a collaborative team environment, sharing common goals and resources in supporting students, schools and parents. There are currently a number of ALS sites located in the metropolitan and regional areas of WA, and there are plans for expanding the program in 2022. Each setting accommodates up to 10 students and 7 staff.
The role will be based out of Statewide Services at Padbury, however the position will involve the successful applicant visiting our sites across the state, which will include overnight stays and air travel.
The role is dependent on the suitable applicant holding and maintaining a current WA drivers licence.
The successful applicant will be required to provide advice and support to administration staff on technical issues and liaise with Department of Education Information and Communication Technologies Support to resolve hardware, software and network related issues. In addition, it is essential that the successful candidate has excellent interpersonal and communication skills to relay possible system enhancements and implementation strategies.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Knowledge of network systems and platforms relevant to the operating environment.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills relevant to the operational maintenance of Information Technology networks.
- Organisational skills, including the ability to plan and implement data security procedures.
- Verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to maintain effective working relationships with both internal and external clients.
- Practical experience in developing and implementing user-training procedures.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
