The School of Special Education Needs: Sensory (SSEN: S) is seeking a dedicated and innovative leader to fulfil the role of Coordinator - Teacher Services at Belmont City College. This position requires the successful applicant to support the delivery of SSEN: S services for students with a hearing loss through the Belmont City College (BCC) Deaf Education Program.
SSEN: S provides educational support for children with hearing loss and/or vision impairment from birth to completion of school. SSEN: S is based at the Statewide Services Centre in Padbury and supports children in both public and non-government schools throughout Western Australia.
SSEN: S operates the Deaf Education and Vision Education Programs to support eligible children, their schools and families. SSEN: S employs teachers with specialist skills and other specialist staff such as educational audiologists, school psychologists, braille transcribers, captioning officer, Deaf education officers and educational interpreters.
As Coordinator - Teacher Services, you will assist the SSEN: S and BCC leadership teams in planning and implementing all priorities and goals of the Business and Operational Plans. This includes day to day management of BCC Deaf Education staff, professional development, project management and student case load allocations. Additionally, the Coordinator will be required to assist in the delivery of general administration and the educational program.
The successful applicant should display the ability to lead, communicate effectively and maintain a climate of respect and fairness in supporting staff. In this role, you will support specialist teachers in the Performance and Development process including coaching, mentoring, observations and facilitating professional discussions promoting best practice. Applicants that display leadership through example and professional conduct will be highly regarded.
It is highly desirable that applicants hold a Master of Special Education, majoring in Deaf/Hard of Hearing or are working towards this qualification. Additionally, knowledge and understanding of Belmont CC educational programs including the Deaf Education Program are highly desirable.
This position may involve intra state travel which includes flying and overnight stays. A current driver’s licence is highly desirable.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective coordination and leadership in a specialist service provision setting for students with sensory impairment, including the ability to manage physical and financial resources.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for students with sensory impairment.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and networks to achieve planned outcomes.
- High-level written communication and presentation skills and the ability to provide customer-focused consultancy.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
