About the role
OAPRCS is seeking a highly competent and experienced Senior High School VET and Secondary Generalist educator to join our proactive and dedicated teaching team.
The successful applicant will ideally be committed to working towards improved outcomes for Aboriginal students in a remote community, have outstanding classroom and behaviour management skills as well as highly developed interpersonal skills. The ability to work collaboratively and proactively with knowledge of Senior School pathways and competency in teaching Foundation units in Year 11 and 12 is highly desirable.
As a teacher at our school you will work collaboratively with others to help create and maintain an engaging and stimulating learning environment for students to enjoy and will be able to help inspire students to develop a passion for learning.
The successful applicant will ideally have the ability to create an effective, engaging and inclusive learning environment based on high expectations. They will have an understanding of appropriate assessments and be able to use data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets and plan for differentiated learning opportunities for all students in their class aligned strongly to the Western Australian Curriculum and the attainment of a Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE).
This role will suit someone who is highly motivated, relationship-focused and passionate about creating exciting learning experiences to ignite students desire to learn. We ideally require a teacher who values relationships with students and the community, someone who can work effectively with all our stakeholders to achieve the best educational outcomes for students.
Our school
OAPRCS is in Ardyaloon (One Arm Point), an Aboriginal community on the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

The location and community
The local Bardi Jawi culture is embedded into the school curriculum in many ways including Bardi language lessons, a fortnightly cultural program, a school and community cultural camp and engagement with local service providers, such as the Bardi Jawi Rangers.
The school has a dynamic staff from various backgrounds, including a number of local Aboriginal staff who provide integral knowledge and expertise regarding students and the school's unique context.
Strong relationships with the local community and local service providers forms the base of a collaborative and targeted approach aimed at improving outcomes across the board and ensuring the children of Ardyaloon are given every opportunity to succeed.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
