About the role
OAPRCS is seeking an innovative, enthusiastic, motivated and student-focused Physical Education, Health & Primary Generalist teacher to help continue to improve outcomes across the board for our students. Ideally the successful applicant will work collaboratively with other staff and community in order to facilitate camps and sporting events, develop resources, undertake planning and moderation and be an active participant in staff/curriculum meetings.
The successful applicant will provide engaging physical education, health programs to our students. Ideally, this teacher will possess excellent classroom management skills, the ability to develop rapport and motivate students, the capacity to differentiate the curriculum and cater for individual student needs. The ability to utilise a range of teaching strategies to maximise student outcomes is vital for this position. The successful applicant will often be required to teach relief lessons across the school due to the school’s remote location and the difficulty of getting short term relief teachers up on short notice.
A successful teacher at OAPRCS has the skills to build positive and caring relationships with students, their carers and the wider community based on mutual respect and trust.
Our School
OAPRCS is in Ardyaloon (One Arm Point), an Aboriginal community on the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley Region of Western Australia.

The location and community
The local Bardi Jawi culture is embedded into the school curriculum in many ways including Bardi language lessons, a fortnightly cultural program, a school and community cultural camp and engagement with local service providers, such as the Bardi Jawi Rangers.
Strong relationships with the local community and local service providers forms the base of a collaborative and targeted approach aimed at improving outcomes across the board and ensuring the children of Ardyaloon are given every opportunity to succeed.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
