The ICT Architecture and Systems Analysis branch contributes to our strategic directions by providing effective governance and support for the delivery of innovative and secure digital capability. Through business systems analysis, we elicit detailed solution and transition requirements through collaboration with stakeholders, whilst managing the full requirements lifecycle to analyse, refine, formalise, verify, prioritise, validate and approve the elicited requirements. We also capture knowledge of ICT solutions and business processes across the Department to enable digital advancements and transformations.
We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our branch as a Business Systems Analyst. You will:
- actively capture and maintain knowledge of client business processes and make an active contribution to the improvement of these processes through inputs into the development, modification and maintenance of ICT solutions.
- analyse business or technical processes to identify opportunities for improvement.
- design, develop and implement new and enhanced processes to maximise quality of service and cost effectiveness.
- develop appropriate design, configuration, testing activities and documentation in accordance with requirements for solution enhancements.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Highly developed skills and experience in the development, support, maintenance and implementation of information systems and their application in a large and complex organisation.
- Substantial skills and experience in writing technical specifications, design and testing documentation.
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills that demonstrate experience in applying business analysis principles and practices to a complex technical environment.
- Well developed project management skills with the ability to provide high quality services to client management.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, including negotiation and liaison skills with an ability to work with individuals at all levels.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
