Yuluma Primary School (PS) is seeking a multi-skilled and innovative Visual Arts Specialist Teacher to join our team, one who will foster a culture of curiosity and innovation, and empower our students to be caring, courageous members of our community. As the Visual Arts teacher, you will ideally have a passion for explicit, visible teaching and learning, highly developed organisational skills, flexibility and established self-improvement through peer coaching. A thorough understanding of the WA Arts curriculum to plan, teach, and assess challenging and engaging programs, promoting active and differentiated learning is highly desirable. You will also co-ordinate and develop an innovative Visual Arts program across Pre-primary to Year 6 to excite and inspire students. You should display an ability to teach skills and techniques in a variety of media: ceramics, painting, sculpture, drawing, printmaking, textiles, and digital art. You should also use assessment data to evaluate the effectiveness of teaching programs, set targets, and inform your planning in Visual Arts for students across the school.
As the Visual Arts Specialist, you will ideally be committed to the promotion of the Arts within and outside of the school. The successful applicant should have a successful background in organising and coordinating Visual Arts school exhibitions. Forming strong links with community groups and engaging with external artists is advantageous to this role in developing the school’s Arts program. Your willingness to provide extra-curricular activities to enhance learning opportunities for students will be highly regarded.
Yuluma PS is a level four, Independent Public School for Kindergarten – Year 6 students. The catchment area is the suburb of Innaloo with its diverse cultural and socio-economic background that enriches the student base. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- Hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
