Hedland Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a dedicated and innovative Teacher – Science. As a Science Teacher at Hedland SHS, you will be an integral member of the Science learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. Suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
To be successful in this role, the Science Teacher will ideally have the necessary knowledge, skills and understanding to teach Science from Year 7 to Year 10 level and preferably expertise in teaching senior secondary Science courses.
The successful applicant will work as part of a team to enable all students to learn and study at school in a cooperative and positive environment. You will ideally be highly organised and have excellent problem solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded, as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks to establish strong community partnerships.
As a skilled and experienced teacher, you will ideally have a commitment to excellence in teaching and engage in regular self-reflection. Another key attribute will be the ability to create environments conducive to learning and provide educational opportunities that are purposeful and relevant, catering for different student learning needs.
Hedland SHS is an active participant in a variety of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives, with a variety of purpose designed classes for STEM and effective integration across learning areas. You will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable, and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within Science and STEM.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
