Armadale Senior High School (SHS) is seeking a proactive, customer service-focussed individual to appoint to the role of School Management Assistant. The successful applicant will join our friendly corporate services support team; and be provided with the unique opportunity to assist with the marketing and planning of school functions.
The School Management Assistant acts as the first point of contact for visitors to the school, undertaking reception duties including greeting visitors, answering/directing the telephone, responding to routine enquiries as well as the managing the school mail. The successful applicant will bring a positive attitude; being able to work effectively under pressure, whilst maintaining high accuracy and a strong attention to detail. They will provide effective general clerical and administrative support including the processing of enrolments, receipting EFTPOS and cash payments, reporting faults and generating routine reports from school databases.
Additionally, the School Management Assistant is responsible for promoting the school through maintaining the school website and the social media page. They will produce publications and promotional materials – including flyers, notices, signage and correspondence – as well as ensure the successful coordination of school events, through effective planning and communication. Using their excellent verbal and written communication skills, the successful applicant will liaise effectively with staff, students, parents as well as external stakeholders – modelling excellence in effective customer service.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Well-developed verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Experience in providing effective administrative support and events coordination.
- Experience in the application of customer service principles and practices.
- Effective planning and organisational skills with the ability to use initiative and work with minimum supervision to meet deadlines.
- Ability to use a range of application software packages, particularly Microsoft Office, databases, spreadsheets and publishing programs.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
