John Curtain College of the Arts is seeking to establish a pool of outstanding Teachers of Music for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
The college anticipates there will be one (1) full-time permanent position, as well as a fixed term part-time positions, available upon commencement of the pool.
The college is looking for highly competent, passionate and dynamic Music teachers who ideally have proven success working with very able students from Years 7 to 12. Applicants with an understanding and/or experience with teaching Gifted and Talented (GAT) students is desirable.
John Curtin College of the Arts are seeking applicants with excellent skills in developing musicianship and music literacy, as well as an understanding of Music and Music Theatre genres and historical contexts. Vacancies may arise that require applicants to have the ability to teach Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) Contemporary and Western Art music courses. Vocational Education and Training (VET) teaching experience and Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116 or TAE40110 plus requisite units) is also desirable. Experience in direction, choreography and/or music direction of Music Theatre productions would be ideal for this role. Conducting experience with choral and/or instrumental ensembles and/or piano accompaniment skills would also be useful to the role. Suitable applicants will participate in a team approach to after-hours extension and enrichment activities.

The Arts at John Curtin is as much about providing dynamic opportunities for all students (each year we produce over 100 performances/exhibitions) as it is about developing transferable life skills such as empathy, creative and critical thinking, collaboration and the ability to communicate, all important attributes for any future pathway.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
