This is a sixteen (16) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP
The Non-Government School Regulation branch is seeking to appoint a dedicated Consultant to join their team.
Through direct engagement with school leaders, the Non-Government School Regulation Directorate oversees the registration of non-government schools in Western Australia. Registration provides assurance to parents and the community that non-government schools meet the standards determined by the Minister for Education and Training and other requirements specified in Part 4 of the School Education Act 1999 and the School Education Regulations 2000. The Directorate also oversees the registration of schools registered to enrol international student visa holders.
The successful applicant will coordinate risk-based periodic review of systems, processes, performance and standards for metropolitan, regional and remote non-government schools, schools with international student intake, and community based courses. In this role you will work collaboratively with schools, consult with school Boards, Principals and executive staff in relation to schools’ administrative, legislative and governance imperatives, and facilitate risk-based and strategic evaluation and analysis of schools’ alignment with the standards and requirements. You will also collaboratively support team members on share priorities and initiatives to achieve Directorate outcomes.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Considerable skills in planning, analysis and continuous improvement related to organisational performance and/or compliance.
- Ability to interpret and provide advice on legislation, guidelines and policy.
- Well developed communication, interpersonal and negotiation skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Well developed written communication and conceptualisation skills, including the ability to clearly explain information and issues.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
