North Tom Price Primary School (PS) is seeking to establish a pool of Teacher - Primary for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2022.
Suitable applicants will be motivated, well organised teachers with sound knowledge in literacy and numeracy and with an ability to inspire students to develop a passion for learning in vibrant, engaging classrooms. Suitable applicants will display excellent interpersonal skills, have a strong work ethic and have an ability to build effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community. The school prioritises the effective application of explicit pedagogies, and working in partnership with the school community to achieve the best possible outcomes for students.
North Tom Price PS has a strong focus on working productively across all staff using collaboration so highly effective team work skills are highly desirable. As a reflective teacher, you will need to display a commitment to improvement and implementing whole school strategies to optimise student learning which will include coaching and classroom observations.
Ideally the suitable applicants will have knowledge and/or experience of Explicit Direct Instruction, North Tom Price PS whole school programs including Talk for Writing, Letters and Sounds, CARS and STARS, and Stepping Stones. A keen interest in the integration of technology in the classroom, including Science Technology Engineering, Arts and Math (STEM or STEAM) would also be desirable. We seek applicants who highly value inclusivity and who will be proactive in effectively engaging our diverse student group including a significant number of Aboriginal students.
North Tom Price PS is one of two primary schools located at Tom Price in the Pilbara region of WA, approximately 1465km from Perth. The school has attractive grounds which adjoin the local oval and is surrounded by the nearby ranges of the picturesque Hamersley Ranges. The renowned Karijini National Park is a short drive away providing a delightful recreational area to visit and enjoy. The school has approximately 300 students from Kindergarten to Year Six. Our students come from all over the world including Australia, New Zealand, Philippines and Thailand.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
