Woodvale Secondary College (SC) is seeking to appoint a passionate and dedicated teacher of Media who is highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment.
As a Media Teacher you will participate as an integral member of the Arts learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. As such, the successful applicant will possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students and have experience in a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
The successful applicant will also be a dedicated and a highly motivated educator with an excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum. The suitable applicant should be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be a highly effective team member. Strong knowledge and skills in the delivery of one or more Senior Secondary courses is highly desirable. As a reflective practitioner, the successful applicant will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. The capacity to engage in the development and implementation of innovative classroom practices, including integration of information technology into the curriculum, will be high regarded.
The successful applicant should also have a strong working knowledge of contemporary Media technology. Our students have state of the art facilities, including a working green room, radio station and soon to be built TV studio. Our new Academic Extension and Enrichment program in Creative Communication is a new and exciting opportunity to engage students in Media and to develop a strong pathway of excellence.

As a consequence of this investment, the successful applicant will have the capacity to lead the use of ICT as a teaching tool in the Arts learning area.
Woodvale SC is located some 20 kilometres north of the city of Perth, and has approximately 1400 students from Years 7 to 12. The College enjoys the expertise of highly trained staff and the stability of small staff turnover. In recent years the College has provided many nominations for Teacher of the Year Awards.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
