Creaney Education Support Centre (ESC) are seeking to establish a pool of Education Support Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Suitable applicants will use explicit teaching strategies and exhibit effective classroom management skills to enhance student learning and wellbeing. Suitable applicants should be flexible, have strong interpersonal and communication skills, a commitment to professional learning and a high-level of participation in collaborative team planning.
As an Education Support Teacher you will plan, program and assess using an integrated curriculum, differentiated to meet individual student needs. Suitable applicants will ideally have highly effective teaching practices, an ability to self-reflect and a willingness to seek constant improvement in their own practice. We are seeking applicants who are hardworking and knowledgeable about a range of disabilities and the implementation of strategies to support and enhance individual development in all areas. Experience and understanding of TEACCH principles would be an advantage.
Teachers in an Education Support environment positively manage a team of Education Assistants to create a safe and supportive learning environment for students. They engage with and contribute to the school community and work collaboratively with families, therapists, and outside agencies to improve student outcomes.
Creaney ESC is an Independent Public School that caters for children with special needs aged between four and twelve years old. Our students have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. With specially trained staff and well-appointed facilities, we are able to offer individualised programs that best suit the diverse needs of each of our students within a safe and inclusive environment. We share a campus with Creaney Primary School in the suburb of Kingsley. This location allows us to offer a range of opportunities for children to integrate with their mainstream peers.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
