Beenyup Primary is currently seeking to appoint a Deputy Principal to join our vibrant team at the start of 2022. Beenyup Primary opened in 2020 and is continuing to grow so there is the possibility of additional positions arising during 2022 as enrolments increase. Given Beenyup’s new school context, it is highly likely that the position will include a teaching component in addition to the instructional leadership aspect of this role.

We are therefore seeking a Deputy Principal to join our team who is a passionate leader committed to making a difference in the lives of our students; and who is ready to build upon their proven skills and abilities and take them to the next level. The Deputy Principal will work closely as a member of our Executive Team to drive our ambitious improvement agenda. The successful applicant should be motivated, practical, hard-working, innovative, and possess outstanding interpersonal skills. They will pursue excellence in classroom teaching and empower their colleagues, making student academic achievement the core of their work. Experience with Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) and Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) will be highly regarded as these are the two foundations of Beenyup Primary.
As our Deputy Principal, you will ideally possess exemplary leadership qualities and a high level of professional knowledge in order to work closely with the school leadership team within an empowered school culture to lead and manage sustainable change towards improving whole school performance in relation to effective teaching and instructional practice. The leadership qualities and skills to build staff capacity and cultivate distributed leadership within a culture of high expectations is highly sought and proven experience would be advantageous. The Principal requires leaders who ideally have a proven capacity to build and support teaching teams to deliver consistent practice across the school with a focus on explicit and measurable outcomes. Building staff capacity through classroom observation, feedback, modelling a coaching that will enhance the performance and development culture within the school is highly desirable for this position.

- Provide high quality instructional leadership enabling staff to implement and embed the strategies and whole school evidence based approaches outlined in the business plan in order to achieve the school’s vision.
- Work collaboratively and lead staff in ensuring our whole school approaches to teaching and learning are embedded with consistency and fidelity; including maintaining a supportive environment aligned to our Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) approach.
- Coordinate, develop and present high quality professional learning for teachers and knowledge of procedures to monitor their application and success.
- Provide strong strategic leadership in providing a suite of school based services and programs to cater for students at educational risk and students with special needs that support the staff team to meet diverse student needs.
- Play a key role in human resource management, including recruitment processes and staff induction.
- Have a visible presence and strongly support the promotion and marketing of the school.
- Previous experience with rigorous data analysis to drive planning and student outcomes is highly desirable.
In collaboration with the Principal and the executive team, the Deputy Principal will provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school’s vision, business plan and strategic directions across the school community. A significant responsibility of the Deputy Principal is to embed and maintain aspects of the school culture that promote positive relationships between students and staff and, engaging parents and caregivers and the wider community in the educational work of the school.
Having opened in 2020 as an Independent Public School, Beenyup Primary caters for students from Kindergarten to Year 6 and is located in the fast growing town of Byford. Beenyup Primary is a school that is committed to achieving excellence and building brighter futures together.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
