Halls Creek District High School is seeking to establish a pool of ECE and Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2022.
Halls Creek District High School has an enrolment of approximately 400 students across the K – 12 Campus, with a 98% Aboriginal enrolment. Located in the beautiful East Kimberley Region, we are part of the Kimberley Schools Project, and are committed to attracting, recruiting and coaching teachers to master explicit teaching pedagogy.
As an Early Childhood or Primary Educator, you will ideally possess the capacity to provide a learning environment that is caring, engaging and differentiated to cater for a range of learning needs including the specific needs of students who are learning English as an additional language. The suitable applicant will also have a good understanding of and ability to deliver the Western Australian Curriculum. An understanding of the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is also desirable and the ability to apply current evidence-based research to classroom practice. We are seeking teachers who have strong classroom management and positive behaviour support skills to successfully engage students in their learning.

Teaching in the Remote Teaching Service can offer you many professional, financial and personal benefits, that you won’t have access to in other regional or metropolitan schools. These include a remote allowance of $15,370 per annum and a locality allowance of $4,888 per annum in addition to your salary, free relocation and transportation to and from the location on appointment, annual travel concessions, subsidised power during peak periods and fully subsidised housing.
Appointments to the Remote Teaching Service are only made on a full time, fixed term basis for up to three years initially, though may lead to permanency with the Department of Education.

Area of qualification of the suitable applicants should be complemented by strong literacy and numeracy skills. An interest or experience in English as an additional language/dialect (EAL/D) will be highly valued.

Vacancies may arise during the life of this pool that require specialist qualifications (for example vacancies within Early Childhood Education). Only applicants, in the pool, possessing the required qualifications will be considered for appointment in these circumstances.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
