Maddington Education Support Centre (ESC) is seeking to establish a pool of education support teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year and up to the end of Term 1, 2023. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year, up to the end of Term 1, 2023.
Maddington ESC is seeking dedicated and reliable teachers to join our team. As the Suitable applicant, you will utilise innovative initiatives and be able to work effectively within and lead a dynamic team. Ideally teacher’s will need to be able to work with a variety of age-groups as we run a rotation system, which relies on 1:1 Individual education program (IEP) goals, so you could have to work with students of all ages with various diagnoses.
Maddington ESC is committed to providing safe and secure learning environments for all our students. We explicitly teach students how to self-regulate or ‘to empty their bucket’. Our Values are incorporated into all aspects of learning, and through our 1:1 rotations, which uses a direct instruction model.
It is desirable for applicants to have experience and knowledge of working with students with special needs. It would also be preferable for them to have skills and experiences in Applied Behaviour Analysis (ABA) Strategies, Direct Instruction, Key Word Sign, TouchChat, Pragmatic Organisation Dynamic Display (PODD) Books and varied alternative communication strategies both electronic and low-tech versions, Information and Communications Technology (ICT) (including the use of iPads, computers and interactive whiteboards), 123 Magic for Behaviour Support and Trauma informed practice experience. Special Education needs reporting and ABLEWA curriculum knowledge will also be highly regarded.
Maddington ESC caters for students aged between four and twelve years old. Our students have varying degrees of intellectual and/or physical disabilities and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder. We share a Campus with Maddington Primary School in the suburb of Maddington.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

Applicants currently completing the Department of Education Leap program (formerly known as the Switch program) can apply for vacancies using their current or Leap qualification – even if they have not completed the program at the time of applying. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
