About the Role
Applicants should possess the professional knowledge, understandings and experience to deliver an engaging and relevant secondary school HASS curriculum and ideally have proven success working with working with students with a range of ability levels. To be successful in this role you will have a passion for Humanities and will be able to creatively plan and deliver lessons in an engaging way to motivate students, develop curiosity, innovation and imagination. The successful applicant will be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills and enjoy working in a collaborative environment.
As a teacher at Newton Moore SHS you will participate as an integral member of the teaching team and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, delivering learning programs to students according to the needs of the school community. We are continually building an ethos where committed, expert teachers engage and support students through explicit teaching and excellent and innovative classroom management strategies.
We are seeking applicants who constantly strive to improve standards and are open to professional development opportunities. The ability to analyse and use data to support teaching, assessment and reporting will be held in high regard. High levels of self-reflection need to be possessed, including showing an ability to evolve and change classroom practice as a result. A Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and/or the ability to teach across the curriculum is highly desirable.

Newton Moore SHS is located in Bunbury, 175kms south of Perth. We have a strong commitment to offering innovative and best practice educational programs. The school delivers two Department of Education Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist. Newton Moore SHS is also Teacher Development School (TDS) for secondary science and a Lead Language School and supports with training and assisting staff across the South West. The school is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for Certificate II courses in Aquaculture and Workplace Skills.
Newton Moore SHS also provides enrichment through the following programs: Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH), Follow the Dream, Clontarf Football Academy, Stars Foundation and CALM Cadets.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
