Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School are seeking an organised and collaborative Head of Learning Area - Science to join our friendly team.
The Role, our School and our Community
Kalgoorlie-Boulder Community High School (KBCHS) was opened in 2006 and proudly provides a full range of lower secondary courses to 900 students in years 7 to 10 and meets the needs of all students in the community. The school caters for students from a diverse range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds.
2022 will see Kalgoorlie-Boulder CHS begin a new three year cycle of strategic planning that will align with Department priorities and the needs of the school. Leaders at Kalgoorlie-Boulder CHS will need to be committed to self-improvement and to school improvement, in order to provide the best outcomes for our students. An ability to support and develop all teachers through coaching and observation is desirable, as are data analysis skills and a high-level understanding of the Science curriculum.
Located 600km's east of Perth, this thriving mining centre caters for more than 850 students. The school is committed to working collaboratively with the community to create an inclusive and innovative environment that motivates and engages students. Being a major regional centre, the city provides comprehensive facilities, services and infrastructure making it a comfortable location in which to live and work. To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.
