Leinster Community School (CS) is seeking to establish a pool of Deputy Principals for appointments to fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 3, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2022.
Leinster CS is seeking highly motivated Deputy Principals committed to supporting the social and emotional wellbeing and the highest educational outcomes for all students. Suitable applicants will ideally possess strong leadership skills in the implementation of strategic initiatives within the school and across professional networks.
Suitable applicants will ideally bring outstanding interpersonal attributes through which they will be empowered to promote the Leinster CS vision and values. A key responsibility will be to ensure targets within the Strategic Plans are enacted. This role involves Instructional Leadership, with the expectation that suitable applicants will ideally have the skills and experience in understanding the Leinster CS culture, and sharing and creating excellent conditions for students to thrive; cultivating collaborative structures and managing change processes that align with the school’s objectives in a positive and proactive manner.
Suitable applicants will operate from a strengths based approach and be able to work alongside staff to achieve improved outcomes for students. Specific duties within the role may vary and are influenced by factors such as; experience and skills of staff, areas of strength and areas for development. The Deputy Principal will be expected to have a teaching load in either the Primary or High School space.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to achieve successful outcomes, across all layers of a school community are seen as highly desirable attributes. It would also be highly desirable for the successful applicant to have strong organisational skills and recent experience with Student Services operations including responding to intervention, case management and effective behaviour support.
Leinster CS is a supportive team environment where everyone works towards a shared vision. Leinster is located in the Northern Goldfields of Western Australia. It is a closed mining town where the school supports the students of mine workers in the region. There is the opportunity to fly in and out of the community. The community is well resourced with an IGA, hairdresser, beautician, swimming pool, gym and tavern.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings.
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes.
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
