Appointment Pool
Halls Head College is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated, innovative and hardworking Student Support Teachers to work collaboratively within our Student Services Team. These appointments are for permanent and fixed term, full-time vacancies commencing for the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
In collaboration with the Heads of Student Services, you will provide student care in the college and the wider community by developing and promoting programs that promote a sense of belonging, support the college’s priorities and create a positive and inclusive college culture.
Suitable applicants will work collaboratively with the Student Services team and have oversight of one or two year groups, with a possible 0.2 teaching load. These roles will include Students at Educational Risk (SAER) oversight, providing support for at risk students for behavioural, academic, social and emotional reasons. They will work proactively with the Student Services team, Leadership team and teaching and non-teaching staff to plan and implement effective interventions, and modified or engagement programs tailored to meet the needs of individuals and groups needing additional support within their cohort. Understanding of trauma informed practice and past experience in the student support space with at risk students would be advantageous. Training around Gatekeeper and First Aid is preferable but not essential. Building clear expectations, clear communication, team work and vision around creating innovative solutions to building positive, supportive and safe school communities will be highly regarded. Engaging every student in educational opportunities and activities which enable students to achieve their personal best and equip them with skills for success beyond school is our goal for every student. With effective interpersonal skills, the suitable applicants will work closely with students, colleagues, parents and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for our students.
Halls Head College is uniquely situated on the 'island' of Halls Head just south of Mandurah. The local intake area of Halls Head College is south, close to the Waroona Shire boundary. The contributory primary schools are Glencoe, Halls Head, Falcon, South Halls Head and Ocean Road. The college provides a secondary education for students who live in the rapidly growing coastal strip, south of Mandurah.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
