Appointment Pool
Joseph Banks Secondary College (SC) are seeking to establish a pool of dedicated Science Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
Suitable applicants will ideally be passionate and dedicated educators, highly motivated to work in a collaborative team environment. They will provide students with a purposeful and engaging learning experience to develop their skills, knowledge and understandings related to Science.
Suitable applicants should have high expectations, display a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive and engaging classroom-learning environment. You should have an ability to work as a collaborative team member and you will be committed to the development of strong professional learning communities focussed on student achievement and success. As a Science Teacher you will participate as an integral member of the Science learning area and be responsible for supporting the collaborative approach to curriculum planning, providing learning programs to students suited to the needs of the school community and modelling exemplary teaching and learning strategies in your delivery. Suitable applicants will ideally possess a repertoire of teaching strategies to engage students, ideally having knowledge of and experience in, a range of instructional strategies and tactics.
Suitable applicants will also ideally be dedicated and highly motivated educators with excellent knowledge of the Senior School Western Australian Curriculum, be able to deliver content in an engaging manner and be highly effective team members. Suitable applicants will ideally have experience in teaching senior secondary Science and possess strong skills and experience in teaching ATAR Science courses. The College offers students a wide variety of ATAR, General and Vocational Courses to study in the Sciences.
Joseph Banks SC is an active participant in a variety of STEM initiatives, with a variety of purpose designed classes for STEM and effective integration across learning areas. You will ideally be innovative, knowledgeable, and possess thorough understandings of instructional and curriculum expertise whilst keeping abreast of the latest developments within Science and STEM. An ability to support the ongoing development of the Space Science Education Centre will be highly desirable.
As reflective practitioners, suitable applicants will ideally possess effective data literacy and a capacity to modify their practice to meet identified student needs. Suitable applicants should also have a strong working knowledge of teaching strategies to support literacy and numeracy skills development and strong performance in NAPLAN and OLNA. Strong knowledge and skills in the effective integration of innovative and engaging ICT based technologies and cooperative learning instructional strategies is highly desirable.
Joseph Banks SC is an Independent Public School in the suburb of Banksia Grove, approximately 40 kilometres from the Perth CBD. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check, and
- Hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
