The Capital Works and Maintenance Branch is seeking to appoint a Finance Project Officer.
The Capital Works and Maintenance Branch is part of the Infrastructure Division. The Division has responsibility for the planning and provision of facilities (land, buildings and equipment) which includes land planning, student enrolment forecasting and facilities planning, strategic asset management, capital works programs, maintenance and minor works programs and provision of facilities related services.
The Finance Project Officer will be involved in the completing the delivery of the $200 million State Government’s economic stimulus program, providing information and analysis for inclusion in management and Departmental reports and assisting the Infrastructure finance team with other works as required, including mapping the area’s business activities. Experience in using Oracle 12.1 and Oracle Business Intelligence, Enterprise Edition will be well regarded.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Knowledge of the Financial Management Act 2006 and experience in accounting, budgeting and resource management in a large agency.
- Well-developed skills and considerable experience in complex computerised financial management systems, sophisticated reporting tools and spreadsheets.
- Sound written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to liaise effectively with a wide range of individuals at all levels.
- Sound analytical and conceptual skills, including the ability to interpret data and resolve issues.
- Sound organisational skills, including the ability to meet deadlines and identify priorities.

Eligibility and Training Requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
