Ridge View Secondary College (SC) is an Independent Public School (IPS) seeking to appoint a dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic Head of Learning Area (HOLA) of Health and Physical Education (HPE) with excellent knowledge and understanding of year 7-12 curriculum, policy and procedures.
The successful applicant should be highly organised, plan time very effectively while also having highly effective interpersonal skills. Ridge View SC is a new and growing college which will have years 7-10 in 2022 and will be preparing for the first Year 11 cohort in 2023.
The successful applicant will lead the HPE Team and coordinate programs, courses and extracurricular events. The successful applicant will ideally have high standards of professionalism and embrace opportunities for collaboration and partnerships within and beyond the college community. Abilities to work positively and effectively in teams and be open to new thinking are highly desirable.
The successful applicant will be expected to create a vision for HPE, plan programs and use data effectively to inform their strategic planning. The HOLA should be an Instructional leader who builds capacity of their team and fosters the professional growth of individual teachers. The HOLA should have high expectations for teaching, learning and assessment aligned to the college’s emphasis on high impact teaching strategies and embedded formative assessment (responsive teaching).
Candidates who have a high level of knowledge and understanding of the HPE curriculum 7-12, policy with highly effective instructional skills are encouraged to apply. Candidates who are highly organised and able to work to strict timelines with impeccable written and oral communication, and interpersonal skills will be highly regarded.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);
- Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
