Canning Community College (CC) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic Science and Mathematics Teacher for Year 7 to 10.
The successful applicant will be a dedicated, passionate and highly motivated educator with the ability to provide high quality teaching and learning programs to meet the diverse needs of our students. Applicants will ideally have an excellent knowledge of the Western Australian Curriculum and be able to deliver content in an engaging manner using high impact, evidence based teaching and learning strategies.
The successful applicant will embrace the College’s whole school approach to teaching and learning and will use assessment data to inform their planning and teaching. They will ideally be enthusiastic and will have a high level of efficacy.
To be successful in this role requires skill in curriculum differentiation and the capacity for effective classroom management that aligns with the College’s approach to Positive Behaviour Support. The College has a whole school instructional model based on iSTAR and explicit instruction (incorporating learning intentions). The model is supported by five school identified high impact teaching strategies called the Fab Five that apply from Kindergarten to Year 10 (see attachment).
In addition to classroom teaching, the successful applicant will have well developed interpersonal skills and will have the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the school community.
A growth-mindset with a commitment to ongoing self-development through professional learning will be highly valued. The ability to work positively and collaboratively is essential for this role, along with the willingness to participate in classroom observation and coaching processes.
Cannington Community College is located 12 km from the Perth CBD and is close to the City of Canning's commercial precinct and major bus and train routes. Most students are drawn from the local area; however, the trend for student enrolments outside the area is increasing. The ethnic diversity of Cannington has increased in recent years and this contributes to the richness of the educational experience at the College. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
