Appointment Pool
Churchlands Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to establish a pool of enthusiastic Health and Physical Education Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year and up to the end of Term 4, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 4, 2022.
Suitable applicants should have high expectations of student achievement, exhibit a commitment to excellence, use a range of pedagogies and have the ability to establish and maintain a positive classroom learning environment. They will ideally have outstanding knowledge of Health and Physical Education and be flexible and adaptive teachers, able to apply the strategies of differentiated instruction and explicit teaching.
An ability to teach across all year levels from Years 7 – 12 is desirable, as is the ability to teach Outdoor Education. Ideally you will have a high level capacity and experience working with Gifted and Talented students. It is also highly desirable to have knowledge of the Western Australian (WA) Curriculum to the Year 12 ATAR level in Health Education.
Applicants will possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills which will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. They will build positive relationships with their students and be passionate about creating positive futures for students. They will be performance driven and use evidence based decision-making skills.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment.
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- hold full, non-practising or provisional registration with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full, non-practising or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
