Asset Planning and Services is seeking three (3) dynamic Training Officers to join our team and contribute to the implementation of ongoing improvements to our training model.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 3 x twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time positions with possible extension
Please note a job share arrangement may be considered for one of the positions.
The Asset Planning and Services Directorate, Education Business Services (EBS), is responsible for the development of strategic asset plans, policies and processes within an asset planning framework, long term land planning for schools, and the management of the Department’s land estate. The Directorate also provides services to schools on security and emergency management, environmental services, statistical and demographic planning services and property management.
The successful applicant will contribute to the development, delivery and ongoing evaluation of training programs that are engaging and align with Departmental and legislative requirements. You will work collaboratively with the training team and key stakeholders to ensure the learning outcomes reflect the skills and knowledge required of today’s workforce. You will also conduct training needs analysis to identify competency gaps, and provide evidence based recommendations to enhance program effectiveness and the translation of learning to practice.
As the Training Officer you will contribute to a work environment that is safe, fosters equity and diversity, enables the achievement of personal and EBS goals and facilitates accomplishment of designated roles and deliverables. You will contribute to the change management projects relevant to the branch and as required, represent the branch on intra and inter agency committees and working parties.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Experience in developing, delivering and evaluating training programs.
- Good interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to engage and work with a diverse range of stakeholders.
- Initiative and good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines, identify priorities and work independently or as part of a team.
- Ability to achieve outcomes and deliver quality products and services consistent with organisational requirements.
- Skills and experience in using Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook) and learning management systems.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a current Certificate IV qualification in adult training and assessment, or be actively working towards
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- hold a current Western Australian ‘C’ Class drivers licence
- undertake travel to regional and remote areas to deliver training programs
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
