Kalgoorlie School of the Air (SOTA) is seeking a dedicated, efficient and enthusiastic Manager Corporate Services to join our leadership team.
The successful applicant will ideally possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills which will assist when working with the leadership team, staff, home tutors, parents and the wider community. As the only staff member in the front office you will be required to utilise your excellent customer relationship skills on a daily basis to negotiate effectively and build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels whilst maintaining the professional and positive image of the school.
As the Manager Corporate Services, you will work closely with the Principal to manage the day-to-day financial, physical and human resources aspects of the school’s business operations, provide input for the development of the school’s marketing and business plans, and provide timely feedback on the school’s financial position and performance. You will lead and assist support staff, including recruitment, induction and performance management, and build their capacity to fulfil the requirements of their individual roles.
The successful applicant will need strong Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills. Well-developed knowledge of the Student Centred Funding, One Line Budget, RM Finance, Recruitment Advertising Management System (RAMS), School Information System (SIS), Asset and Human Resource Management Information Systems (HRMIS) packages as well as; marketing, branding and social media administration will be highly desirable. Experience in front office and Manager Corporate Services in a Distance Education context will also be highly regarded.
Kalgoorlie SOTA is part of the Goldfields-Esperance Education Region and caters for students from Kindergarten through to Year 6 in a distance education context. Most of our students are geographically isolated, living on farms, pastoral stations, roadhouses, remote communities and mining leases. The school is located in Boulder, in a charming building that is over 110 years old.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Leadership skills in the delivery of business outcomes and sound customer service principles and practices.
- Well-developed oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and the ability to use effective negotiation skills.
- Sound financial management skills, including budget preparation and the ability to interpret and apply financial and accounting practices and procedures.
- Sound human resource management skills, including the ability to develop and/or apply human resource management practices and systems.
- Ability to provide input into the development, implementation and monitoring of business and marketing plans.
- Sound conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
