Appointment Pool
Can you provide high quality learning experiences for all students? Then look no further! Newton Moore Senior High School (SHS), a science specialist school, are seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teachers to join their dynamic team.
We are seeking to establish a pool for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2022 school year. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2022 school year.
At this stage, we have at least one, full time permanent position to fill.
Suitable applicants should have a sound understanding of the WA Science Curriculum and Senior School science courses. Experience in teaching ATAR Science courses is highly desirable. Knowledge of learning strategies that successfully engage students in science will be advantageous.
We are looking for applicants who can develop a supportive and positive classroom environment, possess effective interpersonal skills and be able to work collaboratively in a team environment. Suitable applicants will ideally have the ability to elicit positive student behaviour using an educative approach. They will have a commitment to inclusive education and a strategic approach in planning for improved student outcomes. We are seeking applicants who constantly strive to improve standards and are open to professional development opportunities.
Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is a focus at our school therefore a willingness to work with other learning areas to provide high level learning opportunities and developing skills for the future will be highly regarded. The school also offers related Certificate II courses which require the teacher to possess a qualification in the specific area and a Certificate IV in Workplace Assessment. Whilst not required these qualifications would be advantageous.

Newton Moore SHS is located in Bunbury, 175kms south of Perth. We have a strong commitment to offering innovative and best practice educational programs. The school delivers two Department of Education Approved Specialist Academic Programs: Science Horizons and Engineering Specialist. Newton Moore SHS is also a Teacher Development School (TDS) for secondary science and a Lead Language School and supports with training and assisting staff across the South West. The school is a Registered Training Organisation (RTO) for Certificate II courses in Aquaculture and Workplace Skills.
Newton Moore SHS also provides enrichment through the following programs: Moore Academy of Sport and Health (MASH), Follow the Dream, Clontarf Football Academy, Stars Foundation and CALM Cadets.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
