Canning College is seeking to appoint a skilled and enthusiastic Marketing and Communications Coordinator to lead the promotion of the College to an international audience.
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator will work closely with the Principal and Leadership Team to plan and implement marketing and stakeholder engagement programs for the international student community. The successful applicant will have highly developed communication and interpersonal skills and the capacity to work as part of a team to create and manage an effective marketing and communication strategy to recruit students to the College from many different countries. The successful applicant will be required to engage in some offshore work.
Canning College is an Independent Public School and is the leading provider of international education within the Department of Education. The College enrolled around 400 international students in 2019 and wants to grow enrolments significantly when the current international travel restrictions are lifted. Online delivery was successfully introduced in 2020 to enable international students to commence or continue their studies in their home country.
Our school provides a unique suite of curriculum, much of it developed in conjunction with the Western Australian universities. We offer Year 10, Year 11, Year 12, WA Universities’ Foundation Program, Certificate IV in UAP, Diploma of Commerce, and Bridging preparation courses leading to Year 11 and 12 programs. Founded in 1982 Canning College has an outstanding record of achieving high level academic success and quality university placements for international students.
Canning College works closely with the Western Australian universities, Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI) and StudyPerth to market international education. The College is a significant participant in the international education provision of Western Australia.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements (selection criteria):
- Considerable skills and experience in developing, implementing and evaluating marketing and communication strategies, and digital advertising campaigns, targeting overseas destinations.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with experience in developing and maintaining strategic partnerships and alliances.
- Cross cultural skills and commitment to working in a multicultural environment.
- Considerable knowledge and understanding of graphic design, print management, web publishing, video production and database management.
- Ability to work independently on multiple projects with minimal supervision.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- hold or obtain a valid passport and be eligible to travel to overseas destinations
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
