The Exams, Certification and Testing Division is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and committed Principal Consultant – International Examination in the Examination Logistics ECT Branch.
The successful applicant will provide advice on the Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and Externally Set Tasks (EST) policy and practices delivered at international schools, along with assisting in the strategic planning and formulation of the processes for the development of ATAR examination courses and EST’s.
The successful applicant will liaise with international staff and key stakeholders to manage the delivery of ATAR course examinations to overseas schools as required by the Authority, and will check the analyses of these examinations to ensure reliability and validity. You will also plan, and oversee the design and development of the testing of Online Marks Collection for ATAR course practical and written examinations and ESTs delivered at international schools.
The Successful applicant will liaise with schools, students, and other relevant parties to provide information on Authority policies and procedures pertaining to the ATAR course examinations and EST’s. You will also be required to maintain effective records and course information databases in accordance with the Departments record keeping policy and manage the development of reports as required by the Authority in relation to international examination development.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of assessment and curriculum in the delivery of the Western Australian Certificate of Education and Year 12 ATAR course examinations to international schools.
- Highly-developed project management skills, including demonstrated experience in planning, monitoring, reviewing, evaluating and reporting on complex projects.
- Highly developed organisational skills with a proven ability to deliver outcomes on schedule in a demanding environment and within tight timeframes.
- Ability to provide leadership and work collaboratively to manage a range of complex projects and issues.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, including experience in undertaking high-level consultations, collaborations and negotiations.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- hold a teaching qualification and have teaching experience
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
