Meekatharra District High School (DHS) is seeking to establish a pool of dedicated and enthusiastic Primary Teachers for appointments to permanent and fixed term, full-time and part-time vacancies which may arise during the 2021 school year, and up to the end of Term 3, 2022. Appointments can be made from the pool at any time for commencements within the 2021 school year, up to the end of Term 3, 2022.
Suitable applicants will ideally have a strong knowledge of curriculum and planning for learning, as well as a focus on curriculum differentiation, in particular to cater for multi-age grouped classes of students. You will ideally be relationships focused and have good communication skills in order to follow school initiatives, including working within our school’s PBS Behaviour Expectations and Restorative Practices Model. Applicants will be looked upon favourably who can demonstrate an understanding of explicit teaching and structured lesson design which incorporates a series of clear steps and transitions between them, and scaffolds learning to build students’ knowledge and skills.
Meekatharra DHS has a strong, established PBS approach, focused on our COOL values of respect for Community, Others, Oneself and Learning. Almost 90% of our students are Aboriginal, so the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework is at the centre of our decision-making for students and families. ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
