Koorda Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated and highly motivated individual to fill the position of Teacher – Primary.
We are seeking an applicant who is an enthusiastic teacher who seeks out new opportunities and is focused on their own professional growth. The successful applicant should be committed to creating an effective, engaging, inclusive, and innovative learning environment; based on high accountability and expectations to ensure all students are achieving their maximum potential. You will ideally be collaborative, have high level interpersonal skills and work to improve the outcomes of all children in a team environment. You will actively engage in self-refection to improve your practice and participate in observation and feedback to develop your understanding and application of our whole school programs and pedagogy.
The successful applicant will ideally have a strong knowledge and understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum structure and content, as well as a focus on differentiating the curriculum and a high level of competency in the classroom. The ability to work co-operatively and share expertise and resources with an experienced, dedicated and professional team of teachers is highly regarded, as is the capability to enthuse and inspire students.
You should be highly organised and have good communication skills in order to follow school initiatives. Applicants with an understanding of explicit teaching and structured lesson design which incorporates a series of clear steps and transitions between them, and scaffolds learning to build students’ knowledge and skills, are encouraged to apply. Applicants with additional qualification or skill in areas such as Visual Art, Music, Technologies, LOTE, and Science will be highly regarded.
Koorda PS has been providing a quality education for local children for over 90 years. Many of the current parents and staff members have their own fond memories of their time at the school. The town of Koorda, 236km north east of Perth in the Central Wheatbelt, is home to the majority of the current students with a small numbers living on outlying farms and catching a bus to school. The school is at the centre of a vibrant community, and brings locals together in many different ways.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. (Applicants who require a Limited Registration to teach from the TRB are not eligible). TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
