The Business and Customer Services (BCS) Directorate is looking to recruit a highly motivated, passionate and committed Senior Business Intelligence Analyst to join our team in the Business Capability branch.
A focus of the Business Capability branch is to use data to identify and assist with improvement initiatives and operational activities that support the business and corporate services work undertaken in WA public schools and the Department of Education.
In the role of Senior Business Intelligence Analyst, you will take the lead in providing a business intelligence service and be responsible for establishing best practice with reporting and data analysis approaches and frameworks adopted by the Department. You will support performance indicator monitoring and reporting, collaborate with business areas to analyse corporate data to identify opportunities to improve customer service delivery and outcomes and liaise with mangers and team leads to provide advice and guidance in the area of business data analytics.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Considerable skills and experience with data extraction, performance monitoring and reporting, using tools such as Power BI.
- Skills and experience in researching user information requirements and assisting clients with establishing business performance monitoring processes and reports.
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills to interpret data, identify problems, provide overviews, generate strategies to address issues and drive continuous improvement.
- Highly developed verbal communication and interpersonal skills to undertake productive consultation, collaboration, negotiation and build effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders to influence change.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including experience in preparing reports, briefing notes and responses using analysed and interpreted data to senior management and external stakeholders.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy
- complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
