Balcatta Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an enthusiastic teacher of English and Performing Arts to join their friendly team.
We are seeking a person who is a team player and looking for a challenge, and who will be able to promote the Performing Arts profile in the school and expand the Drama department. The goal is to turn Drama into a sustainable, viable option for all students at Balcatta SHS. The successful applicant should possess the capacity to teach Senior School Drama at both Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) and General levels as well as having a thorough understanding of the 7-10 Drama syllabus and its application. The successful candidate is expected to take ownership of Drama across the school and lead other staff in successfully implementing the Drama syllabus from Years 7 to 12.
Ideally, whilst building up the profile of the Performing Arts at the school, the successful applicant will also have the capacity to deliver the English curriculum to both Lower and Senior Schools to a variety of student abilities. The flexibility and willingness to teach across all learning areas if required will also be viewed as an asset.
Balcatta SHS is situated in the northern suburbs of Perth. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
