This is a permanent part-time (0.6FTE) position commencing Term 3, 2021
Clayton View Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and hardworking Gardener - Handyperson to join our team.
As the Gardener - Handyperson you will ideally be required to work as part of a team. The successful applicant will be responsible for presenting our schools ground in a clean, attractive and tidy condition, making improvements to ensure a safe and clean school environment. In this role you will ideally possess strong capacity to complete minor repairs and maintenance jobs in accordance with the department’s policies and guidelines.
Clayton View (PS) is situated in the foothills and is surrounded by established trees and beautiful grounds. We are constantly striving to improve our grounds and we take enormous pride in our surroundings.
The successful applicant will be hardworking, enthusiastic, energetic and have a passion for gardening. You will also be able to follow instructions and work collaboratively and independently when needed. You will also possess good communication and interpersonal skills and work well with others.
Clayton View PS was established in 2004 as a result of the amalgamation of Bellevue Primary School and Koongamia Primary School. Our school provides a welcoming, community-orientated environment that embraces high expectations and excellence in combination with our pastoral care programs to promote health and wellbeing within our school environment.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- Complete introductory School Gardener training within 3 months of commencement in metropolitan areas or as soon as practicable for regional areas;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check;
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment; and
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process
