Eaton Community College (CC) is seeking to appoint an innovative and dedicated Teacher – Learning Support who is engaging and can motivate staff and students, whilst supporting the School’s priorities and business plan. Ideally, the successful applicant would possess qualifications and/or experience in supporting students with barriers to learning either identified disabilities and/or imputed challenges to learning. Supporting our students and striving to learn more about quality and evidence based teaching and learning is a priority in this role, including transition from primary to secondary.
The successful applicant would possess knowledge and understandings of contemporary, evidence-based practices related to learning support services and would provide advice, information and support to the school and network on the learning support needs of our students. Experience in improving students’ outcomes, understanding disability resourcing and the capacity to access additional support from the State-wide Services Resource Centre, Schools of Special Education Needs (SSENB and or D) teams is highly desirable.
The successful applicant will assist teaching staff in the delivery of planned education programs and in promoting a supportive and inclusive learning environment. They will work under general supervision or autonomously and would be required to contribute advice and expertise, collaborating with school community members to support student achievement. The Teacher – Learning Support would show a commitment to enhancing students’ learning opportunities through ongoing reflective classroom practices as well as commitment to planning, case management of students and liaising with external agencies are also key to the role. It will be important to continue to engage in professional learning opportunities, including positive and effective collaboration with colleagues. You will show a willingness to contribute and maintain a team environment.
Eaton CC is a medium-sized school catering for approximately 580 students from Year 7 to Year 12 and is an Independent Public School. We offer a wide range of courses from VET, General and ATAR subjects. We are a Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) school prioritising whole school collaboration, engaging staff, students and parents in the development and evolution of shared expectations.
This year we have embraced Professional Learning Communities focusing on two major areas: Quality Teaching and Social and Emotional Learning. These communities are a significant part of our whole school development and on-going improvements, engaging all staff in the process. We are highly supported by an internal Specialist Literacy Teacher and support personnel, with a current focus on reading, and a proactive PBS team.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
