Mindarie Primary School (PS) is seeking a dedicated, self-motivated and reliable individual to join their team in the role of Gardener - Handyperson for our diverse school grounds.
As the Gardener - Handyperson, you will be responsible for presenting our school grounds in a clean, attractive and tidy condition.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the maintenance of our school grounds and complete minor repairs and maintenance jobs in accordance with the Department’s policies and guidelines. We are seeking an individual who is hardworking, enthusiastic, energetic, has a passion for gardening, is able to follow instructions and work collaboratively and independently when needed. Ideally, the successful applicant has good communication and interpersonal skills and works well with others.
Mindarie PS is a dynamic learning community catering for students from Kindergarten through to Year Six. The school opened as a school in houses in 1997 and moved to its current, purpose built premises in 1999. The suburb of Mindarie is a seaside suburb located approximately 35 km north of the Central Business District of Perth in the Shire of Wanneroo. In 2012 Mindarie PS became an Independent Public School; empowering the school and our community, giving us greater autonomy in which to shape our ethos, priorities and direction. Further strengthening our collaborative approach and ensuring we work hand-in-hand with our school community to set our own strategic direction. As such we have greater decision-making abilities and manage our own budgets.

This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

Eligibility and training requirements
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy;
- Complete introductory School Gardener training within 3 months of commencement in metropolitan areas or as soon as practicable for regional areas;
- Complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- Complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy;
- Obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment;
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check; and
- Complete the Department’s training in Accountable and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
