Bob Hawke College is seeking to appoint two hardworking and motivated Program Coordinators - Students to join our invested and supportive team.
We currently have the following positions available:
- (2) x - permanent full-time positions
Both positions will commence Term 4, 2021

As Program Coordinator – Students, you will work closely with the Associate Principal and School Psychologist to establish and develop policies, plans and programs in the area of Student Wellbeing. Emphasising the creation of a positive culture and learning environment, you will play a lead role in establishing the processes and practices that will support students in their first years at the College. This role will include the planning, monitoring and support for students identified as being at educational risk.
Leading the Student Central team, including administrative assistants, the School Nurse, the School Psychologist, Year Coordinators and the Chaplain is an important part of this role.
The role will also require the successful applicant to have the capacity to:
- Work closely with the Program Coordinator – Inclusion to promote an inclusive philosophy and practice at Bob Hawke College;
- Facilitate transition for individual students to secondary context from primary school settings;
- Facilitate interagency links to maximise support for students with a variety of presentations;
- Strategically plan, reflect on and revise systems to support the pastoral care, behaviour, social-emotional development and mental health needs of students as the school population grows;
- Continue the development of the Social-Emotional curriculum and CREW;
- Carriage of the Student leadership portfolio;
- Leadership of whole school events – e.g. Year Assemblies, Immunisation, school photos, CREW days;
- Develop and support student connection and engagement through a strong sense of self, community and active citizenship;
- Facilitate parent links and parent participation to enhance positive educational outcomes for students with disabilities and learning difficulties; and
- Maintaining effective case management and attendance systems.
In this role, you will create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students, focussing on the development of the whole child. Ideally, the successful applicant will have the following attributes: They will be able to practice care; be curious about learning and about learners; be invested in the College and the community; and be reflective of themselves and their practice.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;
- High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;
- Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs).
- Capacity to manage physical and financial resources.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- Provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- hold a recognised qualification in teaching and be currently registered or eligible for registration to teach in Western Australia;
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
