Fremantle College is seeking two (2) dedicated and enthusiastic English Teachers to join their friendly team.
We currently have the following positions available:
- 2x - twelve (12) month fixed term, full-time position with possible extension and/or permanency
One positions will commence Term 4, 2021 and the other Term 1, 2022.

You will ideally have experience in teaching upper and lower school English and possess strong skills and experience in teaching ATAR English, or the capacity to do so. Tailoring your application to highlight your strengths in working with either GATE and ATAR students and/or students at educational risk is highly advantageous. You ideally will possess a sound understanding of the developmental needs of students at all phases of the Western Australian Curriculum and be skilled in differentiating the curriculum to meet the academic needs of all learners. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment will be well regarded as well as a willingness to engage in professional learning and liaise with colleagues, parents and external networks.

Expectations of teachers at Fremantle College include an explicit focus on the following aspects of the Professional Practice Domain:
- Analyse, diagnose and adjust classroom teaching practices; Teachers seek and are responsive to feedback from students and teachers in regards to the impact of their teaching. This will include the provision of differentiation for the range of students in classes.
- Use information and communication technology; Enhance student learning experiences, reinforce teaching and effectively communicate with parents, staff and students.
- Have clear lesson goals and high expectations of the learning that will occur in classes; How it will occur and the evidence produced by students to demonstrate their learning.
- Give students the opportunity to learn and work effectively as part of a team; Recognising that learning is an experiential process linked to solving real world problems.
- Demonstrate the use of a positive education philosophy (PERMAH) and positive behaviour management; Enhance and develop strong relationships with students.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
