We are seeking ethical, dedicated, highly competent and enthusiastic special education teachers with excellent interpersonal skills who are capable of creating high quality, effective teaching and learning experiences for their students. Each class has a team of education assistants that work with the teacher to support the learning needs of the students. Teachers are encouraged to actively lead and support the staff in their team. This includes coordinating weekly meetings, providing training and undertaking performance management. The desire to invest in developing positive working relationships with students, parents and colleagues is a key focus for all staff at our school.
We are very keen to add team orientated teachers, who are passionate about teaching, to our dynamic team of teachers currently at our school. Our staff demonstrate a preparedness to collaborate with and support other colleagues in the development and implementation of the school’s curriculum. This includes ensuring access to the curriculum for all students, inclusive of their individual needs. Staff commitment to implementing whole-school curriculum policies and programs in English, Maths and Health & Wellbeing needs to be evident. Being a small school, all staff also take on curriculum leadership roles outside their classroom that support the school business plan.
Meadow Springs ESC is a PBS School with a focussed approach to positive behaviour management. Our 3 Behaviour Expectations – I am Respectful; I am Safe; and I try my Best, underpin the values program in our school. Teachers are expected to work within a positive school’s framework to teach; shape and reinforce positive behaviours in students. Our school context and the unique needs of our students informs our approach to learning in all classrooms. Teachers will ideally structure lessons using the gradual release model that underpins our whole school approach to lesson design. Classroom design in every classroom is purposefully created to ensure success for all students. Visual supports are in place for all students in our school and students with complex communication needs (CCN) have a communication system in place. Staff are trained in PODD (Pragmatic Organised Dynamic Display) as a high percentage of our students have a PODD Book. We have a whole school approach to supporting students with complex communication needs which includes common visuals and the expectation that staff will develop proficiency in using a PODD book to model language.
If you are an individual who models exemplary practice, are a proven team player who focuses on developing safe, positive and productive learning environments for students, are continually looking at ways to improve your practices, develop new skills and aspire to be the best that you can be then Meadow Springs ESC could well be the place for you.
