The School Curriculum and Standards division are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Senior Consultant – Registration to join their team.
The successful applicant will collect and maintain data necessary for the keeping of records of students of compulsory school age, as required by the Acts Amendment (Higher School Leaving Age and Related Provisions) Act 2005. They will assist with the introduction of the data collection procedures associated with implementation of the new Western Australian Certificate of Education, and develop and implement procedures and strategies associated with the registration and maintenance of records of all students of compulsory school age. Additionally, the successful applicant will communicate policies and procedures related to the collection of data to providers of education, training and employment for students on notices of arrangement, and, communicate policies and procedures related to the student database to schools, including facilitating information and training sessions with school administrators.
This role requires the successful applicant to draw upon their skills and experience in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of extensive and complex databases including the ability to develop formulas and to manipulate a significant amount of data with a large depth and breadth of variables. As the successful applicant you will work collaboratively with IT to write requests for changes to programming while solving data-related problems to comply with policies and integrity checks.
The Examinations, Certification and Testing (ECT) directorate is responsible for implementing the logistics for the delivery of Australian Tertiary Admission Rank course examinations, and, implementing the logistics for the delivery of Externally Set Tasks (EST). The directory develops and maintains strategies to acknowledge student performance, including the development of online exam structures, and, designs, implements and evaluates educational measurement activities in Years 11 and 12, including the moderation of external assessment activities.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- Substantial skills and experience in managing data within established database programs
- Highly developed conceptual and analytical skills with the ability to identify, clarify and analyse processes and generate appropriate strategies to address issues
- Highly developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to consult and negotiate with stakeholders at all levels
- Substantial skills and experience in developing and implementing procedures and processes
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including the ability to work independently or as part of a team to meet planned outcomes and deadlines

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
