Esperance Senior High School (SHS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic Teacher – Secondary to join their friendly team.
We are seeking a passionate and flexible teacher who will thrive on the diversity of being a secondary education teacher in an agricultural school setting. This role will suit someone who is able to provide engaging, relevant, and meaningful learning experiences with a focus on literacy and numeracy outcomes in an agricultural context.
Ideally the successful applicant will be someone who will build strong relationships with students to help identify both academic, work related and life goals.
In this role the successful applicant will liaise with staff to provide additional support for student outcomes. They will also participate in Work Place Learning and monitoring, State Emergency Services Cadets and collaborate in a team environment with teachers and farm staff.
Esperance Farm Training Centre is an 800 hectare fully operational farm located 35kms from the town of Esperance, with a number of successful enterprises, including broad acre wheat, barley, oats and lupin production, sheep and cattle raising.
Agricultural students compete at many local and rural agricultural shows and are consistently high achievers at the annual Perth Agricultural Royal Show and the Esperance and other regional shows held annually.
The Esperance SHS Farm Training Centre is part of the Western Australian College of Agriculture. Students can undertake agricultural traineeships whilst still at school, giving them vital industry experience. Students gain dual accreditation at the end of their schooling that includes TAFE certification and the Western Australian Certificate of Education.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
