Broome Primary School (PS) is seeking to appoint a dedicated and enthusiastic teacher who in addition has a passion for Science.
As a Science Teacher at our school you will provide a quality program to engage and educate students from Years 1 to 6 about living in an environmentally conscious and sustainable future. You will possess strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills that will be used to develop and promote the school’s values, ethos and priorities across the school community. You will work effectively in a team environment as well as providing quality teaching within the schools expectations of implementing explicit instruction pedagogy that enables students to achieve their potential. The successful applicant will work closely with students, teachers and the community to achieve the best educational outcomes for students in the classroom and extra-curricular contexts.
Broome is located on the shores of Roebuck Bay in the Kimberley region of Australia. It is 2200kms away from Perth, the capital city of Western Australia. Broome has an interesting history based around the exploits of the men and women who developed the pearling industry in the 1880s. This history has created a population that is a unique blend of Asian, European and Indigenous cultures. Broome is rich in Aboriginal culture and is the traditional home of the Yawuru people.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate your competency against the following domains (that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers):
- Professional knowledge;
- Professional practice; and
- Professional engagement.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance prior to commencement of employment; and
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check.
- be fully or provisionally registered with the Teacher Registration Board (TRB), or be eligible for full or provisional registration prior to commencement of the position. TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
