Leonora District High School (DHS) is seeking a Youth Transition Coordinator to join its team.
The Youth Transition Coordinator is a specific role which provides support to the North Country Network of schools by providing programs and pathways for secondary students into further education and/or employment. A key indicator for success is to support schools with engagement of secondary students at educational risk, improving attendance rates and academic outcomes.
The North Country Network of schools includes Leonora DHS, Laverton, Leinster, Menzies Community School and Mt Margaret RCS, and offers the opportunity to work in a strong collegiate teaching and learning environment that is supportive of each other. The North Country Network of Schools is well organised with whole school structures that support the learning needs of students. In each of the schools, students are responsive and engage well with the staff.
The position is based at Leonora District High School (DHS), however the occupant of this position will also be required to undertake travel (including overnight travel) to the other North Country Network schools.
Leonora DHS is located in the mining community of Leonora, 840km north east of Perth and 240km north of the regional centre, Kalgoorlie. The present population of the town is approximately 700. Employment is mainly in mining, local business and to a lesser degree in public administration and in the pastoral industry. Leonora is on the edge of the Central Desert region; featuring hot summers, cool winters and a very low rainfall average of about 233 mm per year.
Leonora itself is a wonderful place to be based, and the Goldfields and in particular the North Country, a wonderful place to work.
