This is a thirteen (13) month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension
We are looking for a highly motivated Principal Project Officer with excellent communication skills to assist with the implementation of future recommendations and outcomes from the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability.
The successful applicant will consult and negotiate with a wide range of stakeholders, including national and state level external stakeholders, to develop and support the implementation of related strategies and initiatives in the area of disability to assist with ensuring policy, systems, processes, advice and support provided effectively meet the Department’s obligations with the Royal Commission Inquiry. This role will respond to Notices to Produce and requires applicants to undertake high-level research and analysis to identify emerging trends and issues related to responses to the Royal Commission’s future recommendations and matters pertaining to disability.
This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our division for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.
To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:
- High-level project and program management skills, including ability to implement processes to facilitate monitoring, reporting and successful delivery.
- Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships and networks, including experience in undertaking high-level consultations, collaborations and negotiations.
- Highly developed written communication skills, including extensive experience in the preparation of correspondence, reports, Ministerials, briefing notes and policy.
- Highly developed conceptual, analytical and problem solving skills and experience in applying strategic thinking to achieve outcomes and implement effective change management strategies to achieve educational outcomes.
- Highly developed organisational skills with a proven ability to deliver outcomes on schedule in a demanding environment and under tight timeframes

ELIGIBILITY AND TRAINING REQUIREMENTS
Employees will be required to:
- provide evidence of eligibility to work in Australia for the term of the vacancy
- obtain a current Department of Education Criminal Record Clearance before commencing employment
- obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement;
- complete any training specific to this role required by Department policy; and
- complete the Department’s training in Accountability and Ethical Decision-Making within six months of appointment
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
